All sounds in demos 1-4 are SILK multi-samples triggered from a midi keyboard, except the percussion, which is from SD2 PRO. The sound you hear in the demos is the raw sound coming from PLAY. No external effects, eq or reverb was used in these demos, except a subtle compressor, which was placed on the master bus. No phrases or performances from SILK were used in demos 1-4.

“Quantum Leap instruments have become an important part of my sonic template. I am really looking forward to using QL Pianos and Silk in my future scores and I am using SD2 right now on Terminator 4.”

— Danny Elfman

“The Quantum Leap samples have that rare ability to inspire creative thinking. Always somethings I want out of sounds. To lead me somewhere, to let myself go.”

— Thomas Newman

“The best sounding ethnic sample-based instruments available, head and shoulders above everything else like it out there. The sound quality is just amazing. Everything is well-organized and easily accessible. The pro will get this as a matter of course.”

“This is a must-have for the pro and the very best thing next to an actual ethnic performer. The sound quality, detail and sample performance in each instrument is startlingly good. You really have to hear it to believe it. This is the very best of its kind.”

Silk is beautiful. It was initially designed as an extension of East West Quantum Leap’s RA, THE go-to library for world/ethnic instruments in the TV/film/video game world. It is much more than that; it definitely stands on its own. The detail in the instruments is stunning, and the playability factor is high. In regarding to the TV/film/documentary world, this should be in every composer’s collection”

— Audiomidi

“The sounds themselves are a delight—recorded at East West’s beautiful studio (formerly Cello, formerly Ocean Way, formerly United Western, as built by Bill Putnam in the 1950s), they’re clear, lush, impeccably edited, and mapped together beautifully. New discoveries await in every folder, from the traditional sounds of the Indian tanpura and sarod or the Chinese bawu and dizi, to an amazing 30-piece string section powering through unison lines, to tiny touches like a subfolder of breath noises. Fantastic! PLAY as a player has made a very good impression on this reviewer, doing a great job of showcasing these gorgeous sounds with a lovely mix of expressiveness and authenticity. Give Silk a listen, and be carried away.”

Video Tutorial

All instruments featured in SILK are multi-sampled with extreme attention to detail offering the maximum in expression. Quantum Leap SILK contains extensive articulations, interval sampling (where appropriate), round robin (alternate samples), legato scripting, and phrases to give the feeling of smooth effortless performance - like silk. Each musician recorded for SILK is a master of his instrument, providing the best and most accurate sound available. SILK also allows users to adapt the instruments using dozens of useful micro tunings in the key of their choice. This microtuning system is the first of it's kind, and is a true breakthrough for PLAY.
"Intended as an extension of Quantum Leap RA, Quantum Leap SILK looks to give users access to rare instruments from across Asia played masterfully by renowned artists," says QUANTUM LEAP Producer Nick Phoenix. "Extensive scripting is employed in SILK along with our PLAY 64-bit (with 32-bit capability) sample engine, offering composers a lot of control over the end result. PLAY's scripting, microtuning and convolution reverb are a powerful combination, making it an unparalled interface for these sounds. SILK is revolutionary in that the microtuning and scales actually teach users how to employ these sounds in an authentic way."
