Why Hollywood Scoring Tools?
Your Best Ideas Shouldn’t Start With Hours of Programming
Every composer knows the feeling. You have the perfect musical idea in your head, but before you can write it you’re searching through hundreds of patches, loading instruments, balancing layers, assigning articulations, and building templates. By the time you’re ready, the inspiration is gone.
Hollywood Scoring Tools changes that. Instead of building from scratch, you begin with professionally designed Scores that are already balanced and performance-ready.
PlayCustomizeCompose
Built by Composers.
Not Algorithms.
Every Score is the work of nine composers: more than 1300 finished arrangements, fully orchestrated, every part already written. The notes you play make it your own. Every orchestral layer, every synth texture, every performance control, every dynamic balance, every effect was chosen because it works musically. These aren’t random sound combinations. They’re scoring tools designed by composers who understand deadlines, storytelling, and emotional impact.
You can then customize any composer-crafted Score to make it your own, or build one from scratch. Swap the instrument in any slot, change its pattern, set its Min and Max dynamics, and use the mod wheel to change the dynamics and bring more instruments in. Change anything, change any setting, and once you’re satisfied save it as a User Score and build your own collection.

Make Every Score Your Own
Browse by genre
Fourteen genres, from Action and Adventure to Romance, Historic and Horror. Select several at once and the list narrows to the Scores that match all of them.
The Ensemble category holds large multi-instruments rather than scoring cues: Big Orchestra and Fantasy Orchestra through to World Ensembles of mallets, plucked instruments or strings.
Narrow by style
Twelve styles, such as Tension, Underscore, Wall of Sound and Hybrid, combine with the genres to pin down the mood you are after.
Find and load a Score
Filter by time signature, search by name, or star the Scores you reach for most and show only those. The User tag lists the ones you have saved.
Click to load and keep browsing; double-click to load and jump to the Shape page. Either way up to ten slots fill with the Score's instruments, dynamics and the patterns of all four arrangements.
Performance notes
Every composer-crafted Score comes with a short description of its musical intent and how to play it, such as where to sit in the range or when to hold a bass note.

Replace instruments
Every Score runs ten instrument slots, five on screen at a time. Click an instrument to open the Instrument Browser and swap in another.
Change articulations
There is no articulation switch to hunt for. Articulation is chosen by the instrument in the slot: High Strings Sustain, High Strings Staccato and High Strings Pizzicato are separate instruments, so changing articulation is a single swap.
Add new layers
Each slot is its own channel strip, with volume, pan, octave, reverb send, solo and mute. Its Min and Max handles set how quiet and how loud the slot gets as you ride the mod wheel, so one gesture takes the whole Score from intimate to full.
Edit effects
Click a slot's FX button to open its FX page: Attack and Release, a 3-band parametric EQ, and three Insert FX slots, each drawing on 21 effect types in six categories.
Global FX
The Global FX button opens the reverb every slot sends to. Choose Convolution, the sound of real recorded spaces, or Algorithmic, a space you can size, then start from one of its presets.
Save unlimited Scores
Swap instruments, rebalance the mix and rewrite the patterns, then click Save in the Score Bar. Anything you build becomes a User Score that sits alongside the composer-crafted Scores in the Score Browser.

Animate every slot
Each of the ten slots runs its own arpeggiator, and its strip shows the pattern it plays. Click a slot to open its editor for note order, rate, velocities and custom sequences.
Arrangement keyswitches
Every Score is really four arrangements in one. Press one of the five blue keys to move between the separately arranged Intro, Main A, Main B and Outro. C1-F1 swap arrangements respectively, while G1 acts as an ending, stopping any arrangement on a final chord. You can also octave-displace the keyswitches in the Settings.
The Arrangement menu under the mod wheel names the currently selected arrangement, or the ending. Click it to choose one directly without touching a key.
Copy an arrangement
Copy an arrangement's patterns across all ten slots and paste them into another: the quick way to build Main B from Main A, then vary it.
Set the feel
Choose the time signature, a pattern length of one, two or four bars, and half-time, normal or double-time playback.
Drag it into your DAW
Play, then drag the MIDI tile onto a track. The performance lands as a multitrack MIDI file, one track per slot, each named for its instrument.

How is Hollywood Scoring Tools different from Hollywood Orchestrator/Hollywood Fantasy Orchestrator?
The Orchestrators lock you into fixed slots with a handful of instruments and less adaptability. Hollywood Scoring Tools opens all of it up.
The Hollywood Orchestrator and Hollywood Fantasy Orchestrator come with specific presets created for those library collections. These have designated slots for the brass, percussion, strings, and woodwinds (and vocals for Fantasy Orchestrator), and cannot be altered from their select few instruments/articulations.
Hollywood Scoring Tools has ‘Scores’ each of which contains four different ‘Arrangements’. Rather than just one MIDI step-sequence per Orchestrator preset, you can use these Arrangements to evolve the composition through an Intro, Main A, Main B, and an Outro. The step sequencer has also been vastly improved for efficient use. There are 328 Scores, thus 1312 different Arrangements, none of which are in either Orchestrator. With Hollywood Scoring Tools you can also load any of the instruments (Orchestral, Synths, Band, World, Choirs & Percussion) in the library into any of the 10 instrument slots. Seven additional legato instruments can be played separately.
Each instrument slot has its own FX insert with a three-band EQ, and three additional FX slots where you can add 21 other effects (split into six categories) in combination. Each instrument slot also has a Min/Max volume handle letting you blend the layers of instruments more precisely and control the dynamic range as you move the Mod Wheel (or reassign the overall dynamic control to another CC). This gives you far more control in crafting the sound of each loaded instrument through both the composer-crafted Scores and your own User Scores.
How is Hollywood Scoring Tools different from The Score?
Hollywood Scoring Tools keeps the design you know from Sonuscore’s The Score but changes what sits underneath. Many of the sampled instruments, including the Orchestral sounds, are now EastWest’s deeply sampled, TEC Award-winning Hollywood series recordings, running in the modern Opus software.
It includes 160+ instruments from five worlds: Orchestral, Synths, Band, World, and Choirs & Percussion, selected, adapted, and combined from EastWest and Sonuscore libraries. The EastWest instruments are fully chromatic, multi-dynamic layered samples (including true recorded legato instruments) which dramatically improve the power and realism of the original orchestral content.
If you know The Score, the workflow will feel familiar. The Find, Shape, and Play tabs, the ten instrument slots, mod-wheel dynamics, per-slot arpeggiators, and tag-filtered browser all work the way you remember. Opus adds efficient sample purging and an expanded suite of effects, including more reverbs and an SSL Channelstrip.
Hollywood Scoring Tools also adds 177 newly composed Scores containing 708 new Arrangements, alongside 151 Scores (previously called Stories) enhanced from The Score.
Which sounds have been adapted or combined from previous libraries?
80% of the sample content (including the orchestral samples) is from the TEC Award-winning EastWest Libraries, while the remaining 20% is from Sonuscore. Hollywood Scoring Tools instruments are not entirely one-to-one with standalone EastWest or Sonuscore libraries. Some are combinations of several source instruments, designed to make the instrument slots more straightforward. For example, Strings Hi Pizzicato combines 1st Violins and Violas, whereas Woodwinds Low Staccato combines the Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, and Contrabassoon staccato samples into one instrument.
The real strength of Hollywood Scoring Tools, however, is in the efficient composition of Scores and the ability to swap, craft, and balance each instrument. Load a Score, spark your imagination, and adapt the Arrangements through your own chords and melodies to take the music in your own direction.
